(Pete) Illman is the author of THE PILOT'S AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL HANDBOOK, now in its Third Edition; THE PILOT'S HANDBOOK OF AERONAUTICAL KNOWLEDGE, now in its Fourth Edition; and THE PILOT'S RADIO COMMUNICATIONS HANDBOOK, now in its Fifth Edition, all published by McGraw-Hill. An active private pilot for over 50 years, he holds a certificate with single-engine, commercial, and multi-engine ratings. Mr. Illman was employed by TWA for more than 30 years in various management capacities, and is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the United States Pilots Association, and the Kansas Pilots Association.
